First week of summer school has ended!
Looking back, I arrived at CUHK on the 26 of June(Sunday) from Macau and checked-in to their hostel after lunching with Grandma and Grandaunt at Tseun Wan.
I was welcomed by Ivy at the door and Terri helped me pushed my luggage into the hall while I went in to get my keys. Ivy was very nice as she showed me the way up to my room.
I settled down and got ready to go for the campus tour. While waiting at the longue, I met Jady, another CUHK ISS helper and we chatted for quite a bit.
There were alot of Singaporeans in this ISS. About 200+ out of 650. Scary. I went on the campus tour with Terri and we kind of stick together for the rest of the day. There were lots of forms to fill in at the OAL and I took quite some time to finish them.
At night I went to 九龙塘 with a group of SMU girls. They went to HKIA to pick up another 2 of their friends while I went to the supermarket to buy groceries. Went home at night and started cleaning up the whole room.
There were much more necessities that we needed, so on Monday, I met Terri and we went to Daiso to get everything we needed and had Jap food for lunch. We washed our clothes after we got back to the hostel cos Terri was running out of clothes and I had a whole bag of dirty clothes after the Macau trip. So basically, the whole day was spent on housekeeping and laundry.
Tuesday was Orientation Day! We finally met the person who had been emailing us and coordinating the whole summer school programme. He welcomed and briefed us on the programme. We took a group photo, in a very large group of 400+ people. It was quite spectacular. Haha! After the orientation, while I was walking up the hill, I thought I saw someone familiar. It's Yiwen, a TPJCian and my cousin's friend, so coincidental. I hang out with them and we went to the welcoming dinner together. It was helded at a restaurant in Tsuen Wan. I met HsinMei from NUS and she was so nice to talk to... so understanding and friendly :) The dinner was great. There was a welcome party at Space, a club in WanChai but most of us did not go for it cos there was a morning class the next day. We managed to locate those who are taking the same course and shared the study materials with each other! I got my textbook in softcopy! :) Happy.
First day of class on Wednesday! We had about 6 Singaporeans in the Global Enterprise Management class. Our lecturer came from South Carolina and she made us talk in pairs and later introduce each other to the class. It feels somehow like an SIA interview where they ask them to introduce each other to the interviewers :x No cases touched on the first lesson cos the intro part took pretty long. Went to Mongkok with my roommates and other SIM girls. Things happened and relationships were superficial. Nonetheless, I got the things that I wanted :) Had dinner at Shatin with Yuxuan and her bf and bought some green apples back to eat.
Didn't had time to read the cases cos I went to mongkok yesterday. Was thinking that our prof would be going through the cases on Thursday but she didn't have the time to :) Snowballing effect, very bad. Went out with Terri after class to Central and Admiralty, the high-end areas. We felt under-dressed. I finally found my cleanser at LaneCrawford. Apparently this is a very very uh-tas shopping mall. We went back to hostel for low-tea and went for supper with the ISS helpers at Fo Tan. It was a 11 course supper, just like our dinner, very scary. By the time we finished our supper, our hostel is already locked and we had no choice but to walk up the hill and go by the stairs, but I was scared cos we shared ghost stories about our school during the supper. So we decided to hang out at Daisy Li lobby till the open the doors. Thursday night is HK ladies night, so many people went to LKF and every other hour, we saw taxis coming back to the hostel. Many poeple were drunk, some were unhappy cos they went in big group and they did not drink enough. Made alot of new friends in one night. Terri and I thought we should do this(hang out at daisy li lobby at early hours) more often! LOL.
Friday is a non-school day for me! And today is a special day, a public holiday in HK cos it is their independence day. Yay! Met Terri and we went out for lunch together with Henry and Steven at WanChai. We had MSG-free porridge. It was super delicious! We went to watch the protest after lunch. So lucky to be able to see the protest cos we will never get to see that in Singapore. No protests in Singapore. It was a great experience. We went to time square after that and there was a harry potter exhibition!!! I almost went crazy. Wore the Gryffindor cloak and took pictures! Jean is gonna be so jealous! Went to Sum Suei Poh to look at some electronic gadgets, it is like out Simlim Square in Singapore. Went back to hostel at 7 to sleep all the way till the next morning cos I was feeling very tired and unwell.
Joined the Hong Kong tour organised by CUHK on Saturday! We went to Avenue of the Stars, Repulse Bay, Stanley market and finally Victoria peak. Frankly speaking, having visited Hongkong for so many many times, this is the first time I went on a tour. Very educational and fun! In the evening, I met Ivy and together with kelly, yiwen and hsinmei, we went to entral H&M to shop! And to mongkok for late dinner after that. We had salmon sushi cos the restaurant have 50% off every item after 10pm! Shiok! We jsut continued spamming salmon sushi all the way! But I was very tired and I kind of started throwing tantrum. So 失礼 :X But I had a great time with Ivy and the rest of the girls. And btw, I think that Ivy look like Isabella.
I spent my whole Sunday in the hostel cos the heat detered me from going out. I tried to start on my country analysis report but there was little progress :( We ordered pizza for dinner! The portion was huge! Damn. It was catered for 12 people. There were 24 chicken skewers, 120 pieces of hushbrows, 8 pieces of German sausages, 40 pieces of chicken wings, 1 A4 size aluminium tray of pasta and another tray of fruit salad and 2 large pizzas. Freaking alot right? We couldn't finish it although we had 15 or 16 people and after calling for reinforcements.
