Does a cat really have 9 lives?

Last Sunday evening, we were at my grandma's place and my sis went to the nearby coffee shop to do a dinner take-away. On her way back, she saw this kitten lying on the middle of the road. The road is just outside grandma's house but the cat was knocked down by a car further down the road. She wanted to take a detour cos she is scared of cats but it meowed and looked at her.... She ran back and told us about it and I took old newspapers with me, together we went back to the crime scene but when we were nearing the kitten, I saw blood all around the kitten's neck and it's skull was already flattened.... Why didn't the driver slow down in the first place? Why didn't he/she see the kitten if they are concentrating on the road, unless they are carried away taking on their mobile phones? It's in the middle of the road and the driver just knocked it down like that? How brittle can life be? If the kitten has 9 lives, this must be it's last.... Something touching happened when we were looking at the dying kitten from a far. Another cat, a black one, stood by the side of the kitten, also in the middle of the road. It just sat there and whenever there are vehicles passing through, it will run to the side of the road... it is like, the black cat is trying to tell the drivers 'my friend is injured and lying on the road, don't run over it again'. Haiz.

After this happened, it reminded me of a video which I watched on youtube quite sometime ago. Cats actually care for each other though they might not be friends with each other... Watch this and make sure you have the tissue box beside you.
