APEC duty day 1

"Thousands come forward to volunteer time, services for APEC Summit .... Some 3,000 people came forward, eager to be a part of the APEC meetings. But in the end, only 1,700 managed to be selected."

Haha, I'm among the 1700. Should I consider myself lucky?

I went for my APEC duty at the Changi Airport yesterday and was super tired. I was deployed to T2 luggage claim area =) There were so many flights at T2, practically every one hour apart. Met some really nice people and that made time past faster. Stood for a few hours straight and my legs were damn tired after duty. Dozed off on the taxi on the way home. Supposed to welcome the delegates but some tourists came forward and asked for currency exchange counter and luggage deposit area. One indian lady, holding on to the hand of her very young daughter, looked helpless and can to us to say that she couldn't find her luggage and so we went to help her look for them. Apparently the luggage were still on the way at the belt but she was so worried that her luggage had went missing. In the end, we found them and it was really nice to see her expression of relief=) I felt really happy and good seeing her leave the custom with a smile on her face =) That's was just the first day of my deployment and I didn't really caught sight of any delegates yet. The next few deployments are definitely going to be better than the first =)
