our choice of words

This is going to be a very long post.
Did alot of reflections today.
Had alot of realizations today.

Reporting time to midlink was 10am. But I woke up at 8.30am, which I thought to myself, was damn early, not to mention that today is a sunday morning and yesterday I went to bed at 1 am. But I guessed that was just the right amount of sleep I needed cos surprisingly I did not feel tired today. Reached midlink at 10.05am and I thought I was late. Rushed all the way up to level 7 only to find Asif and Cheng Hao seated outside the training room... ... Soon, the Thiang bros and sister arrived, together with Marcus and Melvin.. waited and waited... finally the keys arrived...

After 2 classes of oasis, it was time for preview. Ytd's preview was a very sad case. Haiz. Wait and wait, but see no soul la. Today's was not bad! =D Stoned at the music laptop and finally did a 'music laptop' background for its desktop before everything ended. Went to Jco to buy doughnuts wtih Xinying and Gabriel. Walked to the mrt platform and thoughts were running through my mind, lots of them.. And so i told them:

The way we ask questions will determine how people will answer them. For example, if i ask someone,

How EASY is it to get a first class honours?
VS
How DIFFICULT is it to get a first class honours?

And I thought, I would definitely have very different answers for both questions.

More examples:
How BEAUTIFUL is that girl? VS How UGLY is that girl?
How DELICIOUS is that plate of fried rice? VS How DISGUSTING is that plate of fried rice?
etc, etc... ...

And most of the time, we would tend to focus on the words in BOLD and that will limit our ability. For example, if we take the word 'DIFFICULT' in, our mind will constantly remind us that that task is difficult, it is impossible to achieve it. But on the other hand, if the 'EASY' question was asked, how we approach it will be different, isn't it?

Our choice of words - very important. What are we constantly telling ourselves about the things that we can do when we actually have the ability and caliber to do it? Are we doubting ourselves too much? When someone praises your work, do we really want to be humble or do we always see ourselves as second (or even lower) in rank to others?

So, i shall end this post off with this quote:

"The response we get is the meaning of our communication."
- Sir Winston Churchill
